Wylie ISD is proud to announce Curtis Holtz as the new assistant principal of Burnett Junior High. Holtz will step into this role following the recent appointment of Dale Ramirez as the inaugural principal of Hampton Intermediate.

Holtz began his public education career at Burnett Junior High in 2015 as a substitute teacher. In 2016, he began teaching 7th-grade Texas History full-time. Throughout his tenure at Burnett, he has taught Texas and U.S. History, served as the U.S. History department head, and currently serves as the boys’ athletic coordinator.

In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Holtz has led campus initiatives, including student leadership programming through Take the Lead, the coordination of campus events and activities, and support for professional learning communities. He has also played a key role in organizing athletics programming for 7th and 8th-grade boys, including scheduling and communication with staff and families.

Holtz holds a Bachelor of Science from Texas A&M University–Commerce and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Texas Tech University. He is also a former Burnett Junior High Teacher of the Year and was recognized early in his career as the school’s Substitute Teacher of the Year.
